Position Overview

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Multibody Dynamics Simulation Engineer to join our Research and Development team at our WHQ in Lisle, IL.

The Multibody Dynamics Simulation Senior Engineer is involved in vehicle dynamics simulation. The Multibody Dynamics Simulation Engineer will use multibody dynamics (MBD) software in support of product development of commercial trucks in the areas of ride quality, handling, durability loads prediction, and other vehicle attributes. This role will work cross functionally with the chassis and body development teams as well as vehicle performance and durability test and analysis groups. The Multibody Dynamics Simulation Senior Engineer will report to the Chief Engineer.

Responsibilities

  • Use Adams MBD software to develop and simulate multibody models in support of product development of trucks, tractor-trailer combinations, and buses with conventional and electric powertrains (EVs)

  • Interact with the chassis and body development teams as well as vehicle performance and durability test and analysis groups to ensure synchronized product development and validation

  • Work with minimal supervision to drive given projects to conclusion

  • Work on developing methods to improve process flow and prediction capabilities as well as test correlation

  • Create and maintain reporting throughout team levels.

  • Influence the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the product(s) move to production and distribution

  • Mentor less experienced team members

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Highly preferred – expertise in Multibody Dynamics Software such as ADAMS/Car, SimPack, etc.

  • Highly preferred- experience with vehicle dynamics attributes such as ride quality (comfort), handling etc.

  • Some experience with Finite Element Analysis software such as Nastran and Hypermesh to be able to modify/build FE

  • Models for using with ADAMS/Car software is a plus

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Execution of assigned projects

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
