Navistar, Inc. Project Engineer in Lisle, Illinois

Position Overview

We are looking for bright and energetic Project Engineer to be leads in driving improvement in our S13 Powertrain as Assignment Managers for the Red Arrow process. As we are now in production with the S13 Powertrain, we will have many opportunities for improvement that will require cross-functional leadership and direction. Our newly formed S13 Red Arrow team will be responsible to coordinate that work and ensure our customers’ needs are met.

Responsibilities

As an Assignment Manager you will be responsible to:

  • Lead, organize, and report out on assignments

  • Learn the Traton Red General Milestones and drive assignments thru them

  • Coordinate and lead the cross-functional team at Navistar and coordinate the work across the Traton brands

  • Secure that the team delivers solutions for customers while balancing time, cost, and quality

  • Ensure your assignments stay on the agreed time plan and escalate as needed when they do not

  • Responsible to make sure decisions happen in a timely fashion

  • Communicate and visualize the assignment process – update in tracking systems and prepare reports as needed

  • Secure approval for expenses, investments and part price changes driven by your assignments

  • Responsible for ensuring introduction time on changes

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 5 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

  • At least 3 years of experience in product design/development and/or computer science experience

OR

  • PhD in Engineering, Engineering Technology or Computer Science

Additional Requirements

  • Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

Desired Skills

  • Experience in truck and/or automotive design and development

  • Experience in engine, transmission, and/or aftertreatment design and development

  • Project management experience and/or training is a plus

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment; to interface with suppliers and cross-functional teams to achieve timely execution of assigned projects

  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and formal problem-solving techniques

  • Aptitude for learning new systems

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
