THE OPPORTUNITY

Netflix seeks an experienced real estate lawyer to handle a wide array of responsibilities related to production and corporate real estate.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Draft, negotiate and review real estate agreements for full cycle of real estate lease acquisition and disposition transactions, including design and construction agreements, facilities agreements and assisting with lease administration functions.

  • Work with production and corporate business partners to identify and refine deal points in the process of drafting, negotiating and reviewing real estate proposals and letters of intent.

  • Support production and corporate business partners in structuring leases and fee acquisition deals, advising on matters of real estate law, practice and interpretation.

  • Advise on short term lease and license agreements for the domestic and international production teams (series and film) regarding real estate needs (e.g., production stage and office space).

  • Participate in preparation and updating of real estate templates and forms.

  • Partner with and manage domestic and international outside counsel with respect to both corporate and production real estate transactions.

Requirements:

  • The successful candidate will be a qualified lawyer with at least five years of commercial leasing and related real estate experience, preferably at both a real estate law firm and as in-house counsel with both domestic and international experience. Experience with television and film production and real estate development (i.e., design & construction issues) preferred. The successful candidates will also possess the following:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (succinct and clear), including an ability to explain complex information clearly and effectively to different audiences.

  • Strong analytical capabilities and judgment.

  • Ability to work proactively, independently and reliably under tight timeframes in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively cross-functionally, think practically and be solution-oriented.

  • Willingness to tackle matters outside area of expertise.
