About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units within Jacobs and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.

Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.

The Engineering & Technical Lead (Enabling Works & Earthworks) will be part of the Engineering and Technical function within the Civil Work Program organisation and will be responsible for leadership of the delivery of all CWP Enabling Works & Earthworks design on behalf of the SZC Client. The Civil Works Programme Engineering and Technical Lead is responsible for the leadership of the delivery of all CWP Enabling Works & Earthworks design. This includes:

  • Definition of design / engineering / technical requirements

  • Assurance that design deliverables meet the technical requirements (incl Digital Requirements), and management of assurance review and stage gate process

  • Management of design production by the Design Supply Chain to ensure that design deliverables are available to support the delivery schedule, including planning, procurement and construction

  • Management of the Responsible Designer (Edvance and CNEPE) Technical Scope and coordination with the Design Authority

  • Coordination and integration of the Enabling Works & Earthworks design with the design of other Portions including Main Civils Works, Ancillary Works and Marine & Tunnelling

  • Support to Construction and Manufacturing Quality

  • Manage the Engineering & Technical budget and associated resources related to enabling works & earthworks

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • Civils and/or nuclear background in a relevant project, specifically in the earthworks sector

  • Degree educated within the relevant field

  • Sound understanding of the UK’s engineering practices & procedures

  • Clear understanding of design and engineering interfaces with construction teams, commissioning teams, supply chain and third parties

  • Significant leadership experience of ground engineering teams and major projects

  • The capacity to manage multidisciplinary teams in a large and complex project environment is essential

  • Able to communicate and engage effectively at a range of levels: Management Team, client departments, design delivery teams and third party authorisers
