About the Opportunity

Nuclear Power Programmes are delivering client critical works to some of our major UK and European Projects. Our embedded teams are delivering support to Hinkley Point C (New build power station in the South West), Sizewell C (located in the South East), helping develop technologies in SMR (Small modular Reactor) capability and working towards building Poland's first Nuclear Power station.

Working in both client facing and internal roles we are delivering major programme and project management capabilities throughout the project lifecycle. We are driving to deliver safe, high quality and to time solutions by thinking innovatively and working collaboratively.

Jacobs is seeking a Health, Safety & Wellbeing Advisor to operate by undertaking a range of planned advice, guidance, assurance and support activities which focus on establishing, promoting, maintaining and continually improving the SZC Principal Designer, Principal Contractor and contractor management arrangements; positively promoting and reinforcing NNB Genco standards; and monitoring/measuring the NNB and supply chain health and safety performance through risk based inspections and audits.

Locations will be London with travel to Suffolk required occasionally.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Participate in oversight and assurance activities related to health and safety performance in the control of risks across the project.

  • Provide HSW leadership across the CWP, and support the implementation of the cultural safety programme.

  • Establish and maintain the required meetings, forums and engagements which plan, manage, monitor, coordinate and review health and safety in accordance with the SZC Construction Phase Plan requirements.

  • Produce relevant and appropriate health and safety performance reports ensuring all performance data is provided to the CWP Construction HSE Functional Lead in accordance with agreed timeframes, including the identification of trends and early warnings of possible issues, recommending appropriate action.

  • Positively engage with and influence the programme teams on all health and safety issues relating to pre-construction and construction planning & project(s) evolution advising on constructability, maintainability, and operability matters.

  • Working closely with the CWP Interface team to effectively manage any H&S implications, and ensure they are recorded, controlled and suitably communicated to all appropriate stakeholders.

  • Establish and maintain programme and project-based health and safety risk profiles and undertake associated risk-based inspections and other assurance activities.

  • Carry out accident investigations, keep records and write reports.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • NEBOSH National Diploma or European equivalent.

  • Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent (or working towards)

  • Significant construction Health and Safety experience within a large project environment.

  • Significant experience in creating and implementing large scale health and safety strategies across complex and high risk operations.

  • Proven track record of achieving excellent safety results on major construction and engineering projects.

  • Excellent knowledge of UK legislation and applicable regulations related to construction activities.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to develop wide network and working relationships within Sizewell C and Contractor organisations.
