We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Procurement Manager to join our successful procurement team working across the group. Utilising your commercial acumen and knowledge of relevant markets you will ensure The Economist secures quality services from our suppliers, whilst delivering exceptional value for money, and minimising risk. We are looking for an individual with wide procurement experience but who has in depth experience within technology and facilities categories.
Accountabilities
Procurement
Develop and implement sourcing strategies for your categories in partnership with internal stakeholders and business areas, building robust plans that align with our goals and ambitions for the group
Lead sourcing activity across The Economist Group for defined high value requirements, ensuring that the business obtains value for money, and high quality products/services
Provide a proactive, pragmatic and visible procurement service to the business, being a trusted valuable business partner
Guide and assist the business with lower value delegated purchases, helping build holistic commercial awareness across our communities.
Directly contribute to business growth through the successful identification and delivery of sustainable cost savings whilst maximising holistic value from the strategic supply base
Supplier ManagementPartner with the business post contract award to define and lead the proactive, co-ordinated strategic supplier relationship management for defined strategic suppliers.
Function development
Participate in the delivery of specific procurement maturity initiatives that drive the capability of the function forward as part of the procurement maturity plan, working with other functions, such as finance and legal to refine shared processes, driving cross functional efficiencies.
Experience, skills and professional attributes
To succeed in this role you must have:
Proven sourcing experience on a global scale with a track record of significant benefits delivery
Strong category, market and supplier knowledge, and the ability to use this knowledge to proactively drive sound business decision making
Excellent commercial acumen, coupled with very strong negotiation skills
A flair for managing suppliers and a strength in contract management, building open and trusted relationships, maximising benefits whilst proactively identifying and managing risk
Experience of and confidence to work within the full procurement lifecycle
Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, confidence to challenge the status quo and to articulate and simplify complex messages for a wide variety of audiences
An in depth understanding of a variety of commercial and contracting mechanisms and levers, and have the ability to maximise the benefit from these
Drive to work under own initiative proactively managing workload, priorities and deadlines, whilst also being able to work flexibly to ensure the success of the team
