JPMorgan Chase California Market Strategy Lead, Executive Director in Los Angeles, California

At JPMorgan Chase, our Market Leadership Teams (MLT) are made up of senior leaders from the different lines of business (LOB) responsible for developing, implementing, and driving cross-LOB strategies to advance business growth in local markets across the United States and support local engagement with employees and the community.The 40+ MLTs across the U.S. are supported by a national program team housed within Corporate Responsibility (CR). The MLT Program is seeking to fill the role of Executive Director, California Market Strategy Lead. The position will be responsible for developing, driving and executing a multi-year, comprehensive firm-wide strategy in California to further accelerate the growth of JPMC and continue to position the firm for success in a competitive environment. This position will partner with the internal leadership forums, MLTs, Lines of Business (LOB) partners, and CR, to develop impact metrics and internal and external engagement plans to support this work. The Market Strategy Lead will have experience operating at senior levels of matrixed organizations and will report to the Head of the MLT Program. This position will be based in Los Angeles or San Francisco.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of a unified firmwide strategy for California and its key markets in partnership with LOB and corporate market level leadership, including identifying major business opportunities to maintain and grow the businesses in California (e.g., by sector, market, demographic), determining commonalities across LOB and firmwide priorities, and setting near-and mid-term cross-LOB goals

  • Provide connectivity and coordination between lines of business, MLTs in the state, CR, Marketing and Communications to ensure strategies are complementary, identifying where teams could streamline and optimize priorities; and sharing information across the groups

  • Provide strategic support for the California MLTs as they develop and implement their strategies, in close collaboration with the Head of Business Growth on the MLT national team

  • Work with colleagues across the business to track, measure, and maximize results and ensure that the ultimate strategy and its execution leverages the full assets of the firm

  • Act as strategic partner to the CA MLT Regional Chair and the California Working Group (CWG), made up of a senior leader from each line of business; support the planning of CWG meetings, including developing content and agenda items , tracking progress toward goals, and ensuring follow up on items discussed; responsible for reporting progress, outcomes and impact to relevant senior leaders across the firm

  • Represent the firm both internally and externally with the ability to speak to firm priorities and business activities at client or community events

  • Develop and implement senior executive engagement plan to leverage leaders in CA and those who are consistently in market to build relationships with clients, customers, elected officials and key community stakeholders to advance the firm's strategy

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferred private sector experience

  • Capacity to operate at the highest levels of business and navigate a matrixed organization while remaining hands-on and team-oriented

  • Strong understanding of the financial services industry, the opportunities and risks facing corporations in the current political environment, major issues and topics facing the state of California and its various markets, and issues facing global banks

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate concepts and strategies; and advise, and influence senior leaders across the state and across the firm

  • Strong analytical, strategic and independent problem solving skills; sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills

  • Strong organizational skills and project management experience

  • High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness

  • Positive self-starter with proactive approach, excellent time management and prioritization skills

  • Ability to travel

  • Mastery of core Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
