Eaton’s IS AER FMC division is currently seeking a Deburrer - 1st shift.

The hourly rate for this position is $20.40 - $30.60 per hour.

The hours for first shift are as follows; 5:30 am - 1:45 pm.

What you’ll do:

Eaton Corporation, the Aerospace Group is currently recruiting for a Deburrer to work in our Los Angeles, CA location.

This position will be responsible for deburring complex parts and visually inspect for defects while maintaining manufacturing productivity and standards. Parts may include multiple manufacturing process steps within the deburr operations. Ensure quality compliance of all parts following customer specifications and internal drawings and procedures. May train more junior staff in deburr procedures.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex manual deburring with tight quality tolerances.

  • Rework complex parts that have damage from the manufacturing process.

  • Select proper implement among various deburr tools, knives, and equipment to correctly perform prescribed functions on drawing.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, customer specifications, internal drawings, and procedures for complex parts.

  • Able to manually generate radius requirements at internal cross-hole intersections, slots, and cast features using required “deburring” tools and microscope.

  • Checks finish and/or flatness on lapped parts using required tools (Tropel Flatmaster, Profilometer, etc.).

  • Visually inspect parts determining defects (i.e. machining operations, rust vs. heat-treat scale, etc.) and advise supervision of issues.

  • Examine parts for completeness

  • May perform assembly operations including lee plug, broaching, and helicoils

  • Feature generation as required on parts classified as “complex machined”.

  • Performs majority of deburr operations under a microscope.

  • Train other employees within the Deburr function

  • Maintain manufacturing productivity and safety standards.

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in deburring complex (multiple cavities) machined parts with tight tolerances.

  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position. Only candidates residing within 50 miles of Los Angeles, CA facility will be considered for this position.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • Eaton will consider for employment, qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with the requirements of the FCIHO

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in manufacturing, machining, or related field

  • Five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace experience preferred

  • Five (5) years’ experience in machining, deburring, honing or lapping parts in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong visual inspection skills

  • Strong time management skills

  • Able to perform basic shop math

  • Able to demonstrate mechanical aptitude

  • Involvement in successful process definition and re-engineering.

  • Familiar with Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing techniques such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, TPM, Error Proofing, Standardized Work, Set up Reduction, Continuous Flow, and Pull

  • Experience in Troubleshooting Problems using quality tools such as statistics, 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone diagrams, etc.

  • PC computer skills (Excel, Access, Word, Outlook, etc...) with ability to learn other programs

Skills:

Position Criteria:

  • Familiar with machines tools, production methods and shop practices preferred.

  • Ability to learn equipment and processes for fabrication of aerospace parts, produce parts in accordance with the production plans, sketches and/or verbal instructions. Ability to maintain close tolerance dimensions on critical parts.

  • Knowledge of dimensional measuring instrumentations and use of such tools to verify actual measurements of machined dimensions and features.

  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, sketches, manufacturing routings, procedures, and routers.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills a must.

  • Familiarity with Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles and methods.

  • Ability to logically solve problems and to keep assignments and projects moving in an orderly and structured fashion
