The Laboratory of Professor Andrei Irimia in the USC Leonard Davis School of Gerontology is seeking a Project Assistant to join its team. These Project Assistants will provide specialized support for the development and implementation of research protocols to study Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) using neuroimaging (MRI, CT), machine learning (including deep learning and generative neural networks), and neurogenomics.

Job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Assistance with the design of protocols to study ADRD using neuroimaging techniques

  • Document, update, and implement study methods and procedures for MRI/CT data acquisition, management, and quality control

  • Advise on statistical techniques for neuroimaging data analysis

  • Develop computer programs for analysis of neuroimaging and neurogenomics data

  • Generate graphs, charts, or tables to present imaging analysis results and provide interpretation

  • Contribute to the redaction of research papers, articles, and other documentation of study results

  • Write status reports of study efforts, stay current with pertinent scientific literature, and coordinate the writing of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals

    The ideal candidates will have a degree in neuroscience, computer science, neurobiology, engineering, physical sciences, or a related quantitative field. A graduate degree is preferred but undergraduate degree holders are also encouraged to apply. The candidates should be hard-working, self-motivated, and have a talent for scientific writing.

    Length of fixed-term assignment: 1 year from date of hire

    This is a full-time non-exempt position that will require substantial commitment and flexibility. This position does not require travel and will work full time on-campus, working the following schedule: (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm)

    The hourly range for this position is $26.72 to $28.84. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

    This position is funded by a research contract/grant and may be funded by a subsequent contract/grant. Accordingly, your position is contingent upon receipt of the necessary funding from this or any subsequent contract/grant to continue employment.
