Risk Services Consultant (California Telecommuter)

This position is open to a hybrid opportunity in Sacramento, CA OR may be open to a remote, work-at-home, telecommute role in California*. This role will require approximately 50% travel in the state of California.

The Risk Control Services Consultant will manage and provide risk control services to multiple clients by developing or implementing risk control service plans. The purpose of the role is to provide and communicate risk mitigation methods, procedures, and programs, while being able to measure and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs. The role also serves as a liaison to vendors, insurance markets, and other parties and support the development of new business, products, and client retention.

PRIMARY PURPOSE : To provide risk mitigation services to multiple clients; to participate in the development and delivery of Sedgwick and client risk control service plans; to participate in large engagements requiring multiple analysts; to facilitate risk mitigation methods, procedures, and programs; and to serve as liaison to Sedgwick colleagues and clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspects workplaces and work sites to identify and document violations of federal, state or local safety laws; identifies dangers for the company and clients.

  • Participates in the development of risk mitigation programs and procedures to include (but not limited to) development of policy, standards, procedures, risk reduction strategies, training, and application of applicable vendors; serves as local liaison to vendors and other parties.

  • Communicates information to include loss reports, presentations, analyses and interpretation, and advice and counsel.

  • Maintains current knowledge of and adheres to company internal policies and procedures, corporate directives, and standard operating procedures.

  • Participates in the development of new business, products, and client retention.

  • Participates on local level in activities for the advancement of the profession.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Travels as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree with major in in Occupational Safety and Health, Industrial Safety, Business Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university preferred. One or more of the following professional certifications is preferred: Graduate Safety or Associate Safety Professional (GSP or CSP), Associate in Risk Management (ARM) , Professional Risk Consultant (PRC) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST).

Experience

Six (6) years of related risk services experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Experience with public entities, insurance, or risk pooling is highly preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of OSHA 1910 and 1926 CFR

  • Basic Industrial Hygiene (noise and air sampling)

  • Good oral and written communication, including presentation skills

  • PC literate, including Microsoft Office products

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Ability to work in a team environment

  • Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $69,288.00 to $97,003.00 USD annual salary . A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
