The Department of Medicine is hiring a skilled Staff Research Associate II to support research efforts for the the UCLA Value-Based Care Research Consortium (VBCRC). The role involves providing essential research and logistical support for studies aimed at improving healthcare value. In this role, you will be a vital part of a growing research team. Launched in April 2018, the UCLA VBCRC operates within the Division of General Internal Medicine and Health Services Research at the David Geffen School of Medicine. The VBCRC's mission includes identifying and measuring "low-value care," implementing interventions to reduce wasteful spending, addressing disparities, and serving as a liaison between health system operations and health services researchers to support UCLA Health's learning health system efforts. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic and motivated self-starter with a passion for health services research.

Hourly range: $28.04-$45.11Qualifications

Required:

Ability to perform duties and tasks independently and with responsibility with minimal supervision. * Ability to take initiative and follow through independently on projects.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with data and research projects.

Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of individuals including faculty, staff, data and research partners.

Excellent team skills, interacting well with individuals of diverse backgrounds. Experience with establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff, and research partners, and maintaining a helpful attitude at all times.

Working knowledge and proficient use of software Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access), Internet Browsers. Ability to learn additional software programs. Word processing skills appropriate for completing research program documents and correspondence with speed and accuracy. * Prior experience in handling a variety of tasks with a high degree of accuracy (multitasking) and ability to set priorities when confronted with competing requests. Ability to meet tight deadlines and last minutes requests efficiently and accurately.

Preferred:

Experience in research project coordination (project management). Ability to prioritize group tasks and manage project & teams.

Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, policies or procedures to define the problem, need or objective, identify relevant issues or concerns, formulate alternatives for resolution or new program development, and recommend alternative choices and implications for implementation. * Experience dealing with IRB submissions.

  • Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years of related experience in a health care, research, or educational environment.
