This is an exciting opportunity for a technically minded person who enjoys working in a lab-based environment to provide support for ongoing mass spectrometry and proteomics projects. We are looking for a motivated Staff Research Associate II to work on a variety of projects with the laboratory to identify critical molecular targets in malignant gliomas and develop novel, brain-penetrant small molecule therapeutics to treat these brain cancers. Projects require application of a variety of quantitative methodologies, including proteome-wide protein expression and post-translational modification profiling to fully characterize biological systems, chemical proteomics approaches to determine drug mechanisms of action, and targeted quantification of drug concentrations in brain tissues and blood plasma. The main duties include routine sample preparation, advanced UHPLC-MS method development and optimization, as well as operation and maintenance of state-of-the-art LC-MS instrumentation.

Target hourly rate: $27.09-$43.58Qualifications

Required:

• Demonstrated knowledge of genetics, molecular biology and biochemical principles;

• Extensive lab-based experience in advanced LC-MS instrumentation and related assays;

• Experience with laboratory equipment, including centrifuge, pH meter, incubators, biosafety cabinet hoods, PCR machines and electrophoresis apparatus;

• Experience with various proteomics bioinformatics platforms (Proteome Discoverer, MaxQuant, FragPipe, SpectroNaut, etc.);

• Demonstrated computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft applications; Interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with a diverse group of faculty, staff, postdoctoral fellows and students;

• Ability and desire to work as part of a team and to work without technical supervision;

• Ability to learn new methods and protocols and to adapt these to current laboratory situations.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in life sciences or analytical sciences, ideally with a background in protein chemistry or biochemistry
