Position Description:

Performs manual work in the operation of heavy, medium, and light mobile equipment, and the maintenance of all such equipment pertaining to assigned area. Adherence to robust safety practices and compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations are responsibilities of all employees.

Major/Essential Functions:

  • Load spray equipment & paint materials, Load all types of barricades, cones, sandbags, any other materials related to the position This position may include using trucks, trailers, tractors, power tools, shovels, electronic message boards, or related equipment.

  • Drive, maneuver and service equipment equipped with blades or brooms in successive passes over working areas to remove gravel, dirt, snow, or ice.

  • Maintain all aspects of signage (permanent, temporary, or electronic), striping on streets, barricades, cones, etc.. related to this position.

  • Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals to operate machines, such as striping machines, trucks, trucks with sand spreaders, backhoe/loaders, power brooms, mowers with snow equipment attached.

  • This is an essential personnel position. You will need to be available for on call duty for emergency maintenance or to assist in campus preparation due to inclement weather or hazardous weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in all grounds maintenance activities and equipment.

  • Experienced in the operating, repair and maintenance of all grounds equipment.

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License or willingness to obtain such a license.

Required Qualifications:

Eighth grade education or equivalent plus two years related experience in the operation of medium mobile equipment. Commercial drivers license or willingness to obtain such a license. Additional job related experience may substitute on a year-by-year basis for required education as long as applicant possesses desired reading and writing skills.
