Amazon Software Development Engineer, EU Supply Chain Engineering in Luxembourg, Luxembourg

EU Supply Chain is expanding its engineering team based out of Luxembourg, with new SDE roles, to build world class production systems supporting its customer fulfillment operations. You will get an opportunity to work on cross-functional projects that are exploratory in nature, and will use latest technology for planning and optimization decisions. You will also get a chance to expand your domain knowledge working with some of the best business intelligence engineers, product managers and research scientists in the industry.

As world is fast moving towards the reality where real estate in prime locations is getting expensive, optimizing our FC Bin storage capacity is key to achieving our mission of lowest possible fulfillment cost. We took upon the task of building a WW system in partnership with SCOT, that will make storage cost optimal inventory placement decisions, helping to place the right item in the right FC and prevent excessive inventory being sent. Our system will be built entirely in-house in partnership with SCOT, will use cutting edge technology for automating large-scale business, planning and optimization decisions. EU Supply Chain is proud to be on the forefront of thought leadership in the areas of Ideal Placement and Network Capacity Management and works with some of the best business intelligence engineers, product managers, research scientists in the industry.

This role will be of your interest if:

• You are a self-starter and like to architect systems involving large scale data processing components and Machine learning/economic and optimization models, workflow orchestration..

• You have experience implementing best practices in improving team coding culture subjected related to quality and/or security.

• Effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions to non-technical audiences.

Key job responsibilities

• Work on solving one of core business (FC Bin Storage Capacity) problem with impact in the tune of $40M• Experiment with whatever technology we need to get the job done.

• Get the unique opportunity to work in a Tech environment, while being close to the business side of the problem.

• Use Lean Software Development concepts such as Agile, Scrum and Kanban.

• Use Test-Driven Development and Continuous Deployment.

• Work with Principal/Senior Engineers, Researchers, and Business Intelligence Engineers across multiple Supply Chain, SCOT and AFT teams to design systems which help optimize supply chain management.

• Expand and optimize our world-class supply chain systems to support a variety of emerging business initiatives.

About the team

S&OP Product Team has the following goals:

1.) Sustain the existing S&OP products through regular bug fixes.

2.) Develop & improve existing products through Y-o-Y feature improvements.

3.) Build in-house products, to serve the EU S&OP stakeholders

About the team

Supply Chain Engineering team owns delivering new cross-functional initiatives with high business impact on end-2-end supply chain. We build and own in-house products along with making code deployments on systems owned by partner teams.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience (non-internship) in professional software development

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
