Abbott Territory Specialist (Diabetes Care) - Brisbane West/Cairns in Macquarie Park, Australia

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive medical sales professional with ambition and high energy to join our Diabetes Team as a Territory Specialist .

This role is responsible for the promotion of our life changing technology to Health Care Professionals in Brisbane West/Cairns.

Abbott’s life changing glucose monitoring technology is rapidly changing the management of insulin using patients living with diabetes within Australia. The successful candidate will be accountable to exceed sales targets by executing the business strategy, proactively meeting the dynamic needs of the marketplace and by building superior partnerships with HCP’s that bring value to our customers and enhance patient lives.

Primary Function:

  • The position is accountable for all sales and promotional activity in a defined sales territory in hospital with Specialist Endocrinologists, Diabetes Educators, Advanced Trainees as well General Practice/Pharmacy. There will be a focus on identifying opportunities, a hunger for acquiring new business, while growing all existing accounts.

Major Responsibilities:

The Territory Representative is expected to successfully perform the following responsibilities with direct input from the line manager.

  • Implement specific sales strategies (developed in conjunction with the line manager and/or other commercial team members) for targeted accounts and ensure positive sales outcome.

  • Initiate the development of close relationships with key accounts.

  • Carry out Sales Calls. These include sales calls that: Demonstrate proficiency with selling skills sales framework; Concisely communicate and articulate technical/clinical information; Appraise current and planned customer needs; Uncover and resolve customer objections; Agreement with Customer through a Call to Action; Progress the developed account strategies and challenge the status quo

  • Exhibits knowledge and understanding of the company products and services

  • Prospect new business opportunities with current and new company products

  • Prepare proposals for business opportunities

  • Understand competitor environment. This includes the following: a)Gain knowledge of competitor product offering; b). Identify competitor product strengths and weaknesses

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in a Science discipline is essential

  • Relevant industry experience (both Primary Care and Hospital) in medical devices, however, strong customer facing experience as a pharmacist will be highly regarded

  • Proven track record in delivering sales targets with demonstrated proficiency with selling skills in a sales framework is advantageous

  • Business acumen and analytical skills

  • Customer-centric mindset, active listening, genuine empathy and a strong desire to resolve issues; deliver a high level of customer focused service to internal and external customers

  • Concisely and clearly communicate with the ability to articulate technical/clinical information

  • Initiative and pro-activity to develop account strategies and challenge the status quo whilst identifying new business opportunity
