Job Duties

This role is in support of Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (DS) Huntsville Manufacturing Facility (HMC). The manufacturing engineer in this role will be responsible for creating/updating manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, and material handling. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the assembly and integration of products and other functions that affect product performance. Adapts processes or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. Inspects performance of assembly operations and tools to verify their efficiency and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques. Ensures processes and procedures are following regulations. Reviews nonconforming material trends to implement process and/or assembly improvements. Maintains and creates manufacturing bill of materials (MBOM) in the material resource planning (MRP) system. Assist site management in the implementation of capital equipment purchases.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or related engineering field and 5+ years of experience in related job role; 3 Years with Masters or additional years in lieu of a degree

  • Experience creating and maintaining MBOMs in a MRP system like SAP

  • Experience in routing/work instruction creation in a Manufacturing Execution System

  • Experience working with Solidworks / AutoCAD

  • Prior exposure to manufacturing on DoD contracts

  • Demonstrating capability to develop and maintain manufacturing processes

Salary Range: $93,000 - $139,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
