JOB REQUIREMENTS: Job Summary: The Sample Receiving section is on the front line of high-quality diagnostics and exemplary customer service. We provide services to veterinarians, state and federal agencies, and global animal product export companies. Sample Receiving is responsible for the initial intake, accessioning, and distribution of specimens and data submitted to the lab, and is expanding its role in additional sample processing. We directly impact the success of the testing sections and the laboratory as a whole. The WVDL plays a crucial role in maintaining animal health in Wisconsin and across the United States. Our testing enables animal disease monitoring, outbreak detection, and control, and has a direct impact on the state and federal agricultural industry. Responsibilities: Supervises specimen receiving staff, and/or coordinates specimen intake and processing, and assists with operational work plans to uphold quality assurance and control and ensure workflow of the laboratory. 5% Performs routine and technical laboratory analysis according to established procedures 35% Directs and monitors day-to-day diagnostic specimen intake, screening, and/or receiving/warehousing 10% Executes, schedules, and secures resources for operational assignments and special projects 5% Serves as a primary contact for research participants, individuals, and groups seeking laboratory information 5% Communicates progress updates and responds to inquiries 10% Develops, directs, and evaluates specimen shipments and preparation methods to ensure quality control, quality assurance, and to maintain Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) 10% Monitors and updates specimen records to ensure compliance with established policies, procedures 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees 5% Direct and monitor preparation of specimens for testing including but not limited to centrifuging all serum samples prior to distribution to testing sections Tasks: Manage the section\'s operations...
