Boeing Research & Technology is seeking to hire a Associate, Experienced and Senior Model-Based Systems Engineering - Systems Engineer with a strong background in Model-based Systems Engineering, reporting to the Manager of Model-based Design for X from any of our offices in Madrid, Spain OR Munich, Germany.

In this position you will contribute to the mission of Boeing’s Digital Engineering (DE) Global Center, a global initiative supporting the digital transformation of Boeing’s engineering. The activities are ranging from conducting R&D projects to providing direct support to Boeing’s engineering functions and programs.

As a Systems Engineer you’ll be joining an interdisciplinary team focusing on the development of digital engineering solutions.

Position responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in the area of systems engineering, with emphasis on Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, training and tools.

  • Develop and implement Model-based Systems Engineering solutions for better integration of engineering processes and tools across all disciplines, (incl. systems engineering, design engineering, structural analysis, production engineering, etc.), focusing on digital continuity.

  • Develop and implement Model-based Systems Engineering solutions supporting co-development of product and production system and design for manufacturing.

  • Develop and implement Model-based Systems Engineering solution integrating system safety assessment with architecture development.

  • Apply Model-based System Engineering methods for development assurance to the different airplane programs.

  • Analyze and efficiently present engineering results.

  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.

  • Occasional travel may be required.

Basic Qualifications (Required skills/experience)

  • Bachelor or equivalent or higher of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics related field of studies.

  • 2+ years of relevant experience.

  • Experience in Systems, Hardware or Software development in the Aerospace/Automotive industry or similar.

  • Experience in Model-based Systems Engineering.

  • Fluency in English and good communication, presentation and technical writing skills.

  • Self-motivated with a demonstrated technical judgment and initiative.

  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally.

  • Must be legally able to work in Europe.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experienced: BSc and 5+ years of relevant experience or MSc and 4+ years of relevant experience or PhD and 1+ year of relevant experience.

  • Senior: BSc and 7+ years of relevant experience or MSc and 6+ years of relevant experience or PhD and 3+ year of relevant experience.

  • Experience applying Systems Engineering principals in the Aerospace industry.

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering languages, tools and methods (such as SysML, Cameo, etc.).

  • Experience with Systems Engineering industry standards (e.g. INCOSE).

  • Experience with Systems Engineering across the product lifecycle.

  • Experience with a PLM system (e.g. ENOVIA) would desirable.

  • Background in scripting/coding and experience with a programming language (Python, Matlab, Java, VBA, or similar).

  • Understanding of behavioral/functional modeling of systems and/or production systems.

  • Demonstrated experience in Research and Physical Reasoning.

  • Previous experience working in multicultural environments will be very useful.

  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Typical Education (Experienced - Level 3):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Typical Education (Senior-Level 4):

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This requisition is for a locally hired position in Europe (Germany or Spain). Candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in Europe. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.
