ATCC Director, Manufacturing Operations in Manassas, Virginia

Overview

Ready to shape the future of science and global health? ATCC, an internationally recognized biologics manufacturer, is seeking a Director of Manufacturing Operations for a hybrid role based in Manassas, VA. The Director of Manufacturing Operations will be integral to developing & delivering on Manufacturing Operations strategy. This role reports to the head of manufacturing and is responsible for ensuring consistent operational execution, driving continuous improvement and implementing innovations in systems, tools and processes to significantly expand and optimize capacity across manufacturing. The ideal candidate should be an experienced manufacturing and operations leader with a demonstrated ability to lead and influence others to drive key initiatives that drive business success.

In this leadership role, the successful candidate will establish and lead a team responsible for the development and delivery of technical solutions and executional capability for ATCC Commercial Manufacturing. This individual will play a pivotal role defining how ATCC manufacturing prepares for its next 100 years.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic and Tactical Manufacturing Leadership

  • Develop a strategy and roadmap to support our vision and find comprehensive manufacturing solutions to ensure our processes are efficient and reliable.

  • Identify and assess opportunities to improve capacity and drive change through the application of tools and systems, including Lean Manufacturing concepts.

  • Team Development:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team to support the ongoing growth of the business and promote a culture of responsible stewardship and professional development within the organization.

  • Continuous Improvement:

  • Support implementation of digital systems including ERP and MES. Drive harmonization of training, processes and documentation.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Foster effective communication and collaboration to integrate technical operations seamlessly with overall departmental and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or life sciences, and 12+ years of experience, including 6 + years’ supervisory experience or equivalent.

  • Proven experience in technical operations management within the life sciences industry. Familiarity with quality standards, safety regulations and compliance requirements in the life science sector.

  • Demonstrated ability to gain alignment across multiple partners in a matrixed environment, building collaborative relationships, and focusing on customer needs; Hands-on and consultative approach and ability to motivate teams toward common goals.

  • Experience developing and deploying an innovative strategic plan to build and enhance capabilities and performance. Defines and communicates this vision in persuasive terms, clearly identifying tactical plans to achieve objectives.

  • Excellent presentation, interpersonal and communication skills interacting at different levels withing the organization including senior leadership with a great sense of urgency and ability to inspire others.
