The Opportunity

This position is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business strategies, working principally with senior management. Acts as the principal designer for SAP Quality Management and Patient Device Tracking solutions and their subsystems utilizing a deep understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. For large projects with multiple systems, responsible for working primarily with management and technical specialists across functional disciplines. Supports the application and technical specialists in the multi-system application architecture.

Job Responsibilities:

  • You will help lead teams consisting of other functional groups within the Abbott IT organization to establish technical strategies and the tactical plans to be positioned for the current and future needs of the business.

  • Provides leadership as required in technical team projects you will be a part of. Assists IT management with technical training, guiding and evaluating less experienced IT and technical staff. May be involved in technical interviews.

  • You will take a consultative approach to customers in defining or designing business processes and researching and identifying enabling technologies based on customer requirements.

  • Provides strategic consultancy support to clients, Senior Application Technical Specialists and other technical architects in all aspects of enabling technologies to meet business needs. Provides guidance on application architecture design or improvement. Considers the performance impact of the architecture.

  • Assess near-term needs utilizing structured interview processes to establish business priorities, consult with technical domain authorities and develop alternative technical solutions; advise on options, risks, costs versus benefits, and impact on other processes and system priorities.

  • Ally with other IT functional areas to remain apprised of project status, and inform customer management of your progress; conversely, keep the IT group's technology and service managers aware of user issues and potential potholes or resolve conflicts you are aware of.

  • You will provide technical guidance of implementation projects to assure alignment with architecture and technology standards. Collaborates with database architects in application design and implementation.

  • Responsible for overall compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. Coaches others on compliance and procedures.

  • Works closely with product vendors ensuring strategic and architectural fit, and ability of product to scale to meet Abbott requirements.

Education/Experience Desired:

  • Bachelors’ Degree (Masters’ Degree preferred).

  • 10+ years relevant experience with SAP Quality Management processes, including 3+ years as Application Architect.

  • 5+ years in Medical Device industry, including FDA’s Software Validation and Device Tracking regulations.

The base pay for this position is $95,000.00 – $190,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
