Steampunk Deputy Data Exploitation Practice Lead in McLean, Virginia

Overview

Steampunk is seeking a Deputy Data Exploitation Practice Lead to drive and support delivery of Data-focused work to the Federal market. This individual will report to the Data Practice Lead in the Chief Technology Office and will be responsible for providing strategic, architectural, in-depth solutioning and consultative skills to Steampunk clients, working with a team of Data and IT technology professionals and supporting the pursuit of the Data-focused business.

Contributions

You will work with our growing Data practice delivering the full spectrum of data exploitation solutions including data strategy, data architecture, data engineering, data visualization, and data science. We are looking for candidates with 10+ years of experience. This role has a responsibility supporting large-scale projects, mentoring teams of engineers, being a senior thought leader, and leading corporate sales, strategy, and delivery initiatives. You will wear many hats and act as a technical visionary, a hands-on coach to our delivery teams, a mentor to emerging technical leaders, and a corporate technical sales representative.

Responsibilities include:

  • Serves as the Deputy Data Practice Lead across Steampunk’s client delivery

  • Supports defining, enhancing, evolving and demonstrating Steampunk’s point of view and delivery approach related to Machine Learning, Data Science, Data Visualization, Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Strategy services to the Federal market

  • Supports Steampunk strategic business opportunities through technical contribution to sales and business development opportunities

  • Must have exceptional communication skills to effectively deliver messaging and collaborate with clients, employees, and partners.

  • Fosters and promotes innovative thinking related to the use of Data Exploitation techniques and related technologies across client projects

  • Serves as a thought leader and technology expert to clients and internal teams in the areas of Modern Data Stack, and Data Exploitation.

  • Builds and maintains client relationships, developing a strategic vision for clients and internal teams

  • Handles challenging client situations and offers technical and business guidance & direction to client executives

  • Manages staff and monitors performance and training needs to create skills expansion and career advancement opportunities

  • Interfaces with Operations Directors, Program Managers and technical staff to develop, architect, and deliver quality solutions

  • Designs, solutions for, and supports the delivery of enterprise grade Data services for Steampunk clients

  • Supports hands-on delivery efforts as necessary

  • Understands and designs engagements that promote and build a culture that fosters extracting value from Federal data sets

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ability to obtain a U.S. government Security Clearance

  • BS Degree in an IT or related field

  • 5 Years of Experience in establishing data governance frameworks, ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and compliance with relevant regulations.

  • 5 Years of Experience in designing and implementing efficient and scalable data models and schemas for various types of databases (e.g., relational, NoSQL).

  • 5 Years of Experience with programming languages (e.g., Python, R), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik), and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).

  • Proficiency with data platforms such as Databricks, including experience in setting up and managing data pipelines, performing ETL processes, and optimizing performance.

  • Proficiency in data manipulation, statistical analysis, and machine learning algorithms.

  • Experience in developing and implementing data strategies that align with organizational goals.

  • Experience leading teams of cross-functional, technical resources as a technical lead or architect

  • Experience building solutions in an Agile environment

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and collaborative skills

  • This is a hybrid role, located in McLean, VA

Preferred:

  • MS Degree in an IT-related field

  • Certifications:

  • AWS Certified Data Engineer

  • AWS Machine Learning Specialty Certification

  • NVIDIA Fundamentals Certification

  • Experience with documenting an as-is state of the environment, perform a gap analysis, and produce artifacts that articulate options and recommendations

  • Experience leveraging Human-Centered Design successfully in customer engagements

  • History of thought leadership and the ability to develop training for technical staff

  • Knowledge of the federal contracting landscape and requirements
