Utilization Management Coordinator

The Utilization Management Coordinator will possesses knowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally. The Utilization Management Coordinator evaluates client medical records to determine severity of client’s illness and determining the appropriateness of level of care. Serves as liaison for clients and facility with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for client length of stay and level of care. Oversees utilization management activities with other departments to ensure reimbursement for services provided by the facility. The UM Coordinator has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages client benefits. Working in Medical Records as well you will plans and manages the activities of the department in compliance with facility, state, federal and other accrediting and regulating agency requirements.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

+ + MA/MSW or RN highly preferred / Bachelor’s degree in social science required.

  • Prior experience working with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in an inpatient setting.

  • Valid TN RN license, LCSW, or LPC preferred.

  • Prefer knowledge of health information management and health care delivery systems, medical and psychiatric terminology, confidentiality and release of information laws, leadership skills and various computer and word processing programs.
