JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Medical College of Wisconsin\'s Department of Surgery, Division of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide primary or specialty medical care within defined scope of practice under the supervision of a licensed physician and in accordance with MCW/FMLH/CHW policies and procedures. Located in Menomonee Falls, WI at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as part of a multidisciplinary health care team, providing a broad range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for the patients of the inpatient services as a member of the Department of Surgery- Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Division. The APP will have a strong foundation in evidence-based practice and ensure an environment of safe quality care. The APP position requires a strong clinical competence in emergency general surgery, critical decision making and ability to assess, diagnose and treat patients in an inpatient setting. Core Advanced Practice Responsibilities Perform comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information Write accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders Develop pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans. Monitor effectiveness of plan of care Educate patients on disease and treatment plans. Perform procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. Document within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. Collaborate and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate. Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Joint Commission.
