Job Title: Machinist

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Machinist who is proficient in performing shop math, including geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric calculations. The ideal candidate must be able to perform metric conversions, read and understand blueprints, specifications, and have experience with g-code. Experience with conversational controls is a plus. The candidate should be able to calculate feeds and speeds and have a strong understanding of geometric tolerancing.

Responsibilities

• Perform shop math calculations including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and geometric, algebraic, and trigonometric calculations.

• Perform metric conversions accurately.

• Read and understand blueprints, specifications, and g-code.

• Calculate feeds and speeds for machining operations.

• Apply a strong understanding of geometric tolerancing.

• Operate and set up various machinery including vertical lathe, horizontal lathe, boring bar, vertical mill, and horizontal mill.

• Edit g-code at the machine, acting as your own process engineer/programmer.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in shop math (geometric, algebraic, trigonometric calculations).

• Ability to perform metric conversions.

• Experience reading and understanding blueprints and specifications.

• Knowledge of g-code and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).

• 3+ years of experience with blueprints and understanding GD&T.

• 5+ years of setup machining experience.

• Experience with vertical lathe and horizontal lathes.

• Experience with machining and calipers.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with conversational controls is a plus.

• Rigging with overhead crane experience is a plus.

• Experience with VTL (Vertical Turret Lathe) is preferred.

• Willingness to learn and a good attitude are highly valued.

Work Environment

Our facility features an open, well-lit floor in Bay 1 (large contract machining) and Bay 2 (precision machining side, Haas cells consisting of vertical mill and horizontal lathe). The 3rd shift hours are 10:30pm-6:30am with flexibility to work additional hours before or after the shift.
