Summary:

Basic knowledge and understanding of manual sinker and wire EDM machines is required. Must have the ability to write and edit programs on wire EDM and be able to determine which electrode material best suits the application(s).

EDM Operator Duties:

  • Set up work holding fixtures per documented instructions

  • Interpretation of sketches, figures and blueprints is required

  • Ability to read precision measuring instruments

  • Must be able to offset the program in order to meet dimensional criteria

  • Must be able to adjust burning parameters to obtain long tool life and high productivity

  • Documenting travelers accurately after operations performed and receiving customer parts and orders

  • Perform general departmental housekeeping regularly

  • Sustain production standards and quality

  • Perform in-process inspections

  • Perform or identify minor preventative maintenance on EDM machines

  • Regular attendance and punctuality required

  • Adhere to and promote Corporate Code of Ethical Standards

  • Ensure compliance with Company IPM/QPM and ISO quality requirements along with NADCAP

  • Follow and utilize Lean Manufacturing principles

  • Maintain, implement and improve 5S principles

  • Adhere to and improve safety regulations

  • Perform minor maintenance on equipment (filters, collets)

  • Moving parts & materials to next operation

  • Assist Coating Department in cutting coating samples as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

     

  • Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints

  • Ability to read, interpret and understand work in-process documents

  • Manual dexterity

  • Good vision required

  • Basic computer knowledge required

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Self-motivated with a high level of ownership and accountability

  • Lean skills continually drives process improvements

  • Team building skills  

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience operating and setting up manual machining and equipment.

  • Minimum of four (4) years’ experience with EDM equipment including set up of this equipment.

  • Previous industrial experience is required.
