Job Summary

The UWM Student Union Mechanical Services Supervisor will oversee a comprehensive building maintenance program for major systems in the Student Union, including HVAC , plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, fire suppression, and elevators. This position oversees Mechanical Services staff, coordinates maintenance and repairs, and schedules facility projects. The UWM Student Union encompasses five floors and 330,000 square feet, which includes ten dining units, two conference centers, several retail spaces, a recreation center, and an art gallery.

This position primarily works first shift Monday through Friday, with flexible or extended hours as determined by department needs. The Mechanical Services Supervisor recruits, trains, and supervises two full-time HVAC Mechanics, ten student employees, and other temporary staff.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, with at least 2 years of supervisory experience

  • Demonstrated high degree of mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience making repairs and adjustments to mechanical equipment

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated knowledge of inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems, HVAC systems, environmental controls, and apparatus commonly used in institutional buildings

  • Proficient computer skills related to email communications, online messaging, work order system maintenance and entries. There is increased use of computers and electronic equipment, i.e. fire alarm system, climate control, and security systems in facilities maintenance

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, advanced plans, specifications, operating manuals, diagrams, and charts of a complex technical nature

  • Prior work experience in a higher education environment

  • Evidence of excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines

    Target Salary Range $60,000 - $65,000
