Job Summary
The Department of Dance at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seeks local and regional applicants with expertise in dance technical practice to be included in a pool to fill part-time openings to cover a range of dance techniques, creative, and somatic courses. The appointment includes teaching one or more of the following three-credit courses in beginning, intermediate, or advanced dance forms: African Diaspora dance forms (contemporary and traditional techniques), Latin Diaspora dance forms, Hip Hop, Jazz, Tap, Flamenco, Mexican Folklorico, Gaga, Ballet, Modern/Postmodern, Pilates Method, Yoga, Alexander Technique, or other Somatic Practices, Tai Chi Chuan, or Capoeira.
General responsibilities above and beyond the instruction of courses will include but are not limited to: maintaining scheduled office hours, working collaboratively with departmental / area staff and faculty to maintain a vital curriculum; fostering a sense of community and students’ individual development; actively participating in departmental activities, community outreach, recruitment, and advising students in the dance areas.
Teaching load / specific courses and/or tech assignment will vary based on program needs.
Minimum Qualifications
BA or BFA in Dance, or other related field, or equivalent professional experience (degree must be granted by date of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
Highly qualified candidates may also possess:
MFA
Teaching experience in Higher Education
Professional artistic experience in areas of expertise
Further qualifications may be reviewed based on specific instructional needs for each upcoming term.
