As a Manager - Lab, you will manage, organize, and supervise the day-to-day operation of multiple personnel, responsible for overseeing daily operations, quality and timeliness of a large laboratory. Responsibilities: Organize, train, supervise, and manage the day-to-day operation of the laboratory. Manage multiple personnel in the accomplishment of lab goals. Train new personnel on lab and radiation safety and develop and apply standard quality control protocols. Organize and manage independent research projects. Scientifically design, develop, and perform lab research procedures with guidance and supervision with PI. Organize data and write and edit manuscripts for publication. Meet with PI on a day-to-day basis to determine lab goals and needs. Perform translational work with small and large animals, ocular imaging and ocular functional studies. Develop and apply standard quality control procedures to assure quality results. Create and maintain accurate and timely records of test results, providing information for evaluation and specific recommendations related to the direction of the research. Establish technical expertise on established procedures in the lab with troubleshooting. Keep abreast of research techniques and methodologies that might facilitate designated research projects. Assist in the preparation of research grants, primarily in the generation of preliminary data. Participate in meetings with the PI and staff to evaluate and interpret the validity of data, determine methodologies, and evaluate lab procedures impacting the quality and timeliness of research. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations. Communicate with researchers in other laboratories and share ideas and research methodologies to improve the effectiveness of the research. Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong critical thinking, problem solving and attentiveness to detail required. Knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies. Extensive experience in animal handling, breeding and genetics.
