The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Division of Finance and Administrative Affairs is currently seeking to fill One Police Dispatcher position for the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Police Department. UWM , a doctoral/research intensive university, is Wisconsin’s premier public urban university and offers a comprehensive liberal arts and professional education at the undergraduate and graduate level to over 23,000 students.

Job Summary

This position serves as a police dispatcher at the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee. UWM Police provides protection services on a 24 hour a day, seven day a week basis. This is a full time, flex-schedule position with a biweekly schedule which includes every other weekend off (Fri-Sun).

This position demonstrates professionalism, provides superb customer service and serves as a model representative for the department and the division. Duties include:

  • Answer all incoming radio transmissions and phone calls in a professional manner.

  • Communicate with officers in the field through the use of radio and phone systems.

  • Monitor video surveillance systems.

  • Monitor fire and security alarm systems.

  • Address walk in concerns.

This position also requires the incumbent to type accurately at 35 or more words per minute. Evidence of this skill will be assessed during the interview phase for those meeting the minimum and some/all preferred qualifications below.

Minimum Qualifications

• Evidence of proficient use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Internet-based tools

• Willingness to work shifts that involve days, nights, weekends and holidays (as addressed in cover letter)

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years working as a 911 or law enforcement dispatcher

• Evidence of TIME System Certification

• Experience in Incident Command Center

Target Salary Range $23.01 per hour
