JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Description: The Department of Physiology is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our dynamic team at Medical College of Wisconsin, Chun Liu lab (https://liuclab.com). Our research focuses on unraveling the complexities of cardiovascular diseases using state-of-the-art technologies, including induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) models and CRISPR/Cas9 screening. This position will primarily contribute to projects aimed at dissecting novel regulators in cardiovascular diseases through CRISPR screening and iPSC. Responsibilities: Develop and characterize iPSC-derived cardiovascular disease models. Design and execute CRISPR-based high-throughput screens to identify key genetic regulators in cardiovascular diseases. Analyze and interpret next generation sequencing data from CRISPR screens. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate findings into broader research initiatives. Contribute to manuscript writing and present findings at national and international conferences. Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.Primary Functions: The postdoc will lead the recent American Heart Association-funded project in the lab. Plan, design and execute complex research studies, procedures and protocols. Coordinate research study activities; lead and manage projects. Oversee organization, synthesis and analysis of data and findings. Prepare scientific reports, outcome findings and scientific manuscripts. Participate in meetings with principle investigator and research staff in which you will evaluate/interpret the validity of data, develop methodologies, and design and evaluate lab procedures. May oversee the work of laboratory personnel including training and development as well as daily work direction, delegation and establishing priorities.Knowledge - Skills - Abilities Experience with cell culture, molecular techniques, immunohistochemical staining, Western blot. Experience with handling of laboratory animals is preferred. Experience with cardiovascular-related techniques is preferred. Experience with CRISPR, induced-pluripotent stem cell culture, and/or -omics is a plus.
