MARQUETTE UNIVERSITY Prospect Research Analyst in MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Position Overview: The Prospect Research Analyst is responsible for identifying, researching, and analyzing prospective donors to Marquette University. This position will evaluate and interpret prospect data from a wide range of sources and apply modeling and data mining formulas. Provides research support to development partners to inform prospect strategies and advance donor relationships through qualification, cultivation, and solicitation. Additionally, this role partners with the prospect management and advancement services teams to strengthen Marquette\'s fundraising pipeline and qualification pool. The research and analysis conducted serves as the foundation of our fundraising campaign and directly contributes to the success of the division. This position has the opportunity to work in a hybrid work arrangement with time worked on campus as well as remotely. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Prospect Research - Independently and collaboratively use creative research techniques and a variety of resources (internet websites, library and government resources, online databases, periodicals) to produce high-level research on alumni, individuals, friends, corporations, and foundations. - Analyze and synthesize accumulated information to identify and assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and linkages to Marquette University. - Conceptualize and develop proactive prospecting methodologies to support organizational goals, including data mining and database queries. - Offer primary support of shared research inbox, media citation reviews, basic data updates, gift and event attendee reviews, leadership profile support, due diligence support, data audits. - Operate with a high degree of ethical integrity and maintain knowledge of current prospect research standards and trends as well as possess an active awareness of important news and events related to philanthropy. 2. Prospect Management partnership - Maintain an understanding and offer strategic review of staff portfolios to assure optimum effectiveness in prospect portfolio development and growth. - Bridge prospect research and prospect management by identifying and prioritizing qualification prospects using data and predictive modeling tools (i.e. Blackbaud Analytics MGL/TGR scores, affluence data). - Elevate prospects in the open pool for qualification, tag research leads, strategically share recommendations of prospects for portfolios and/or fundraising projects. 3. Advancement Services partnership - Identify and implement strategic uses of tools and data (i.e. LiveAlumni, BBIS email engagement data) to connect potential prospect interests with pipelines for campaign priorities and fundraiser qualification. - Understand existing tools and strategically offer steps for implementation of further opportunities such as data clean-up that will impact connections in the database, positively impacting our research capabilities (i.e. industry codes/employment info, family-owned businesses, alumni-owned businesses, civic engagement/board affiliations, etc.). - Explore opportunities to utilize social media engagement to identify leads for development. 4. Other related duties as assigned to help support the department and University Advancement\'s goals. At least three years of work experience in a nonprofit prospect research capacity or related field is required. Development research, information ma agement or other relevant experience. Superior knowledge of using internet relational databases and common computer applications as well as familiarity with various research information management tools used in performing donor and prospect research and screening. Strong project management, an ability to build collaborative relationships with colleagues and the ability to work within established deadlines. Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills. Proficiency with databases, Windows, network based electronic environments, and the Internet. Proficiency in data analysis tools such as Excel or other data visualization tools. Excellent analytical and communication skills, including demonstrated experience of interpreting data to inform business practices. Ability to express information clearly and concisely, whether orally or in writing. Discretion and confidentiality.
