The Senior Data Scientist at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will build machine learning models to increase efficiency of internal operations. Develop solutions, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning techniques, and robust analytics to support analytic insights and visualization of complex data sets for productization and monetization. Work with business to identify key pain points and solve them using data science. Apply and integrate advanced statistical, mathematical, data mining, predictive modeling, and business analysis skills and techniques to discover and identify new insights, predict and prescribe outcomes, advise on turning new insights into actionable opportunities and outcomes. Provide tracking and measurement of results. Utilize Hive and Spark in developing queries. Interpret available internal and external data resources using R and SAS to develop and deliver information solutions, including analytical information. Share best practices with peers through coaching and mentoring around core methodologies, patterns, standards and processes. Utilize technical skills to access and extract data from diverse sources residing on distributed databases to implement large, complex data models and information solutions by combining, synthesizing and structuring data from various data sources. Drive innovation by exploring new experimentation methods and statistical techniques that could sharpen or speed up our product decision-making processes. Telecommuting permitted. Salary \$112,195- \$203,840 per year. Minimum Requirements: Master\'s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field, plus 2 years (or a bachelor\'s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a data scientist or related occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (1) python; (2) developing solutions, mathematical models, algorithms, machine learning techniques, and analytics to support visualization of data sets for productization and monetization; (3) Tableau or PowerBI; (4) writing SQL queries; (5) machine learning; (6) distributed databases and query languages including Hive and Spark; (7) statistical analysis tools including R and SAS; and (8) identifying data requirements for analytical needs.
