Let's Redefine Possible SUMMARY Responsible for moving Innovations from concept to full scale application on our projects. This role will have primary responsibility for taking these Innovations from concept to full scale application including, but not limited to, medium to large scale construction process changes, technology development, process automation, and custom tools. LOCATION: St. Paul, MN RESPONSIBILITIES High quality, professional work product performed with initiative, productivity, a positive attitude and behavior. Review and refine the objectives, business case, and development pathway for each concept. Work with Innovation teams to move concepts through development pathways. Effectively identify and partner with internal and external agents to design, manufacture and test each innovative product, process, or system. Includes navigating vendor, OEM and customer relationships and contracts, as well as the regulatory environment. Ensure proper legal procedures and confidentiality measures are applied protect intellectual property. Ensure every innovation is 100% functional and accepted by the operational team before moving on to the next innovation project, being transparent about innovations that do not meet requirements. Openly communicate and celebrate failures as a learning mechanism for our group. Effectively quantify and communicate all positive results, promoting all those on the team who contributed. Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. All other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION Excellent problem-identification and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple, complex initiatives, acting as an agent of change. Ability to translate, document and communicate technical requirements from craft personnel to external vendors and trade partners. Strong communication and follow-up skills. Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks. Results orientation to ensure execution takes priority over conceptualization. Basic to intermediate understanding of construction and engineering principles. Microsoft Office and web application skills at an advanced level. CAD, ArcGIS and CPM scheduling experience at an intermediate level. Proven positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills. Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies. Ability to travel up to 75% Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Design, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Product Design, Automation & Robotics or comparable field. Minimum 5-10 years' experience in Innovation, Rapid Prototyping, Product Development, Tool Design & Fabrication, Robotics or comparable field. Construction experience preferred, but not required. Current driver's license.
