Apply for Job Job ID362064 LocationTwin Cities Job FamilySupplemental Employee Full/Part TimePart-Time Regular/TemporaryRegular Job Code0001 Employee ClassCivil Service Add to Favorite Jobs Email this Job About the Job Major job functions for this position include the following. * Assist scientists in research experiments using fundamental genomics, genetics, and molecular biology techniques including DNA isolation and purification, PCR techniques, colony picking, etc. * Assist UMGC Innovation Lab scientists in lab work, such as the preparation of reagents and solutions using standardized protocols. * Accurately perform quantitative and qualitative analysis on samples using instrumentation including QuBit fluorometer, Agilent Tapestation, agarose gel electrophoresis, etc. * Accurately and comprehensively document experimental results and data using the UMGC's laboratory information management system. * Other tasks as assigned by supervisor. * Unit and location where duties will be performed: Genomics in 28 Snyder Hall (St. Paul) * Days and hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00AM-5:30PM for approximately 15 hours/week. Profile One - Office/Lab Based: Time spent working remotely is occasional or inconsistent. Dedicated on campus work space to be provided. Must be able to lift 25 pounds. The Employer retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position. Qualifications Required (Minimum) Qualifications: Experience in a laboratory environment. Ability to follow oral directions and written protocols precisely, independently motivated, able to manage time and meet deadlines, strong communication skills, meticulous organizational skills, reliability and accountability of work. Preferred Qualifications: (Selection Criteria) Major in science with interest in molecular biology, genetics, genomics, or related field. Applicants may have backgrounds in science or engineering related disciplines. Direct experience with and knowledge of genomics technologies is preferred. About the Department This position is located in the University of Minnesota Genomics Center (UMGC). We are seeking a dedicated, self-motivated employee at our Snyder Hall site to work in the UMGC's Innovation Lab (http://genomics.umn.edu/research-innovation.php). The successful candidate will help to conduct experiments under the direction of UMGC scientists using genomics, genetics, and molecular biology techniques.
