Administer and review pay changes (increases, augmentations, commissions, severance payments) using appropriate calculations, reconcile bi-weekly payroll, administer pay updates and corrections as needed. Provide a high-level of customer service when answering payroll questions and assisting employees with timesheet/vacation/sick time entries. Independently troubleshoot payroll system related issues in human resources management system (HRMS). Responsible for complying with union contracts and multiple employee classification policies and procedures. Monitor, calculate, enter, and notify employees of union progression increases and stability pay. Provide Chief Financial Officer and internal audit with payroll reports/calculations by completing complex equations and interpreting data. Responsible for payroll accounting by ensuring payroll funds come from the appropriate accounts. HRMS (25%) Independently administers student workers, temporary employees, and graduate assistants new hires, terminations, and employment record/pay changes into PeopleSoft. Routinely utilizes HRMS reporting to audit data and ensure accuracy. Monitors vacation, compensatory time, and sick time records and balances and resolves any discrepancies. Acts as lead I-9 administrator including: training new I-9 admins, monitoring I-9 dashboards for issues and compliance, responding to all I-9 related questions and providing technical support. Handle I-9 process for foreign national employees. Create, manage and make changes to positions within HRMS Position Management. Utilize data to calculate student and temporary/casual employee annual turnover reports. HR ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT/PROJECTS/EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT (20%) Responsible for Human Resources administrative support including but not limited to: Drafting offer letters and memorandums. Processing background checks Electronically filing payroll and other employment records Active in the planning and execution of staff gatherings and other employee engagement activities. Manage miscellaneous HR projects as assigned by the HR Director. Collaborate on projects with HR & business office colleagues. RECRUITING (10%) Partner with Athletics hiring managers to create job descriptions for temporary/casual, student worker, and graduate assistant positions. Partner with hiring managers in recruiting candidates from underrepresented groups. Post all job openings to the Full-Time and Student UMN Employment pages as well as Handshake/Goldpass. Responsible for updating the status of all student, temporary/casual, and graduate assistant applications in PeopleSoft recruiting system, including closing positions and notifying candidates when they are no longer being considered for a position. Responsible for processing volunteer paperwork, background checks, and required training. Represent the department and advertise position openings at job fairs. Participate in search committee meetings & candidate interviews as a representative of Human Resources. Facilitate onboarding and provide new student, temporary/casual, and graduate assistants with information about University practices and policies. OTHER (5%) Promote the department's United Are We strategic plan including a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. Act as a Title IX Advocate for Athletic department. Serve as a resource to department staff, use discretion and judgment in answering HR related questions and engage the Director of Human Resources and Office of Human Resources as needed. Oversee and mentor HR student workers by p oviding guidance in their ongoing learning, activities, projects, and assignments. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required Qualifications * BA/BS degree in Human Resources or a related field, or a combination of related education and Human Resources work experience to equal four years. * Demonstrated ability to exhibit cultural competency and an awareness of diversity, equity, and inclusion in day-to-day work interactions. * Strong numerical aptitude. * Experience with data entry. * Intermediate computer skills in spreadsheet creation and management. * Highly developed organizational skills with strong attention to detail. * Passionate about supporting student-athletes. Preferred Qualifications * Previous experience with PeopleSoft or other Human Resources Management System (HRMS) * Experience with high volume data entry. * Passionate about the University of Minnesota and Gopher Athletics. * Ability to lift 20-pound boxes from floor to above head level.
