This position is funded through April 2025 under a Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR)- Invasive species grant to study the adaptability of Palmer amaranth in a changing Minnesota climate. Continuation beyond this grant can be considered depending on mutual interest and funding opportunities. Job Duties: Conduct weed ecology and management research, work with stakeholders, mentor graduate students, and help manage an extramurally funded research project. Writing research and outreach articles and publishing in peer-reviewed journals and Extension bulletins are expected. The candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to securing extramural grant support for the program. 55% - Research activities including data collection and analyses and preparing associated manuscripts, reports, and grant proposals 25% - Collaborate with other researchers and external partners 10% - Assist and mentor graduate students in the research program 10% - Post-Doctoral Associates devote ten percent of their effort to pursuing professional and career development opportunities (e.g., seminars, workshops, and preparing permanent job position applications) outside the scope of their assigned research and teaching responsibilities. Salary: $54,480 - $57,000/year, commensurate with education and work experience Qualifications Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Weed Science, Ecology, Plant Sciences, Agronomy, or a closely related field. Individuals may be immediate post-degree or returning for additional training, updating, and/or retooling. Limited to fields for which post-degree training is necessary for career entry. Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills and publication records Demonstrated ability to analyze large datasets to produce publications on weed ecology and integrated weed management Proven ability to work in both independent and collaborative settings Commitment to the work of equity, diversity, inclusion, and a strong cultural competence About the Department This position is in the in the within CFANS on the St. Paul, MN campus.
