Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Senior Organizational Strategist within our Strategy+ practice in Toronto to take a leading role in a major infrastructure program. Strategy+ is AECOM’s design-led management consulting studio that operates at the intersection of Business Transformation, Organizational Dynamics and Place Strategy. We’re specifically looking for a highly motivated person that is ideally an industrial-organizational psychology and human resources specialist or possesses strong skills and experience in either of these disciplines. You also possess a rare blend of real-world experience and theory, a passion for challenging traditional wisdom, the right mix of boardroom polish and grassroots hustle and are comfortable blurring the lines between the rigor of strategy and the creative.

You will join our existing Organizational Change Team as a Workforce Planning Lead along with other organizational psychologists, organization designers, DEI strategists, and change managers to deliver the organizational changes needed to deliver a multi-billion dollar infrastructure program. With the support of other team members, you will lead the development of a comprehensive staffing strategy for the program.

Once You Are Here You Will

  • Help clients to shape and act on change strategies for complex organizational challenges to capitalize on value-creating opportunities

  • Assess organizational capabilities, structures and processes and develop the future capabilities, competencies and critical roles that enable the program’s strategy

  • Collaborate with the client to develop and implement staffing and deployment plans throughout the lifecycle of the program

  • Liaise with the core program team, cross functional departments and regional teams to ensure effective resourcing, mobilization, induction and integration, training, onboarding and offboarding strategies are implemented across the program

  • Plan for future staff needs and sourcing appropriately qualified individuals

  • Promote measures that encourage and support staff retention

  • Establish a succession planning process that considers the specific needs of the organizations comprising the integrated program delivery team

  • Design and activate organizational interventions to encourage collaboration across siloed organizations

  • Translate behavioural research into insights that can be easily communicated to your collaborators and clients to inspire possible solutions

  • Shape and act on change strategies that may start small, and lead to long-term impact at scale

  • Design tools, methodologies and frameworks that address strategic and organizational issues and foster new ways of thinking and working

  • Shape AECOM’s perspective on organizational strategy – we like to push the edges in all aspects of our work

About You

A T-shaped individual that asks thought provoking questions, are comfortable wading into ambiguous problems and can take ownership, are a critical thinker, and has specialized experience in one or more of the following areas and possesses a broader comfort and ability to work within many of these areas:

  • Human resources analytics, and ability to perform data analysis

  • Organizational psychology, behavioural economics and change management

  • Management consulting and / or corporate strategy

  • User research, synthesis of qualitative data and generating insights

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in a related field, including but not limited to human resources, industrial/organizational psychology, business administration, or behavioural science

and

  • Six (6)+ years of experience working in human resources, organizational psychology, human capital, operations and capability development

Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered.

It would be a bonus if you have:

  • Management experience, including taking responsibility for workforce planning / talent acquisition

  • Worked in the infrastructure industry on other major programs

  • Experience creating, supporting and leading the delivery of resourcing strategies

  • Comfort in the use of data to drive strategic staffing decisions

  • Experience in a consulting and client-facing role

  • Membership to the Canadian Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (CSIOP)

  • Been a part of digital transformation strategies

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $100,000 to $135,000.
