Job Description

Hours will be for the afternoon shift of 1:00pm-11:00pm.

Position works a rotating schedule of:

6 days on/4 days off

5 days on/5 days off

5 days on/3 days off

Supervise employees during assigned shifts. Visit all living units, Visiting Room, and perimeter one-time per shift using PDA to document rounds. Develop and write performance evaluations on CO as assigned and adhere to deadlines. Identify training and developmental needs of officers and provide coaching and input necessary to improve job performance. Complete staff investigations as assigned and on time. Maintain/Approve/Deny CO work time and leave requests on WorkDay and Kronos systems. Ensure orderly operations of the institution. Maintain all pertinent information in Supervisor daily log. Make all necessary entries/changes in ICON system. Complete CO assignments per schedule. Assign area and personal offender searches. Assist in training sessions/orientation as designated.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification:

1) Three years of full-time work experience in correctional or law enforcement officer work, one year of which must have been as a correctional officer in a juvenile or adult community/ institutional corrections or jail security program.

2) All of the following (a and b):

a. One year of full-time work experience in correctional or law enforcement officer work; and

b. A combination of a total of two years of education and full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in penology, police science, psychology, sociology, or social work equals one year of full-time experience.

3) Eighteen months of full-time work experience as a counselor of offenders in a community/ institutional corrections or jail security program.

4) A combination of a total of eighteen months of education and full-time experience (as described in number three), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in penology, police science, psychology, sociology, or social work equals one year of full-time experience.

5) Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes any of the following:

a. Six months of full-time work as a Senior Correctional Officer;

b. One year of full-time work as a Correctional Counselor or State Industries Technician; or

c. Two-and-a-half years of full time work as a Correctional Officer or Correctional Food Service Coordinator.
