VCA Carriage Hills Animal Hospital is hiring an experienced Veterinary Assistant with a passion for emergency and critical care medicine to support our ICU!

About the Role

As Veterinary Assistant, you will support our emergency and critical care services by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our patients, clients and team. Experience with veterinary ER/ICU is required.

Duties will include:

  • Patient triage and assessment

  • Compassionate and attentive care for our hospitalized patients

  • Client education and care

  • Venipuncture

  • Medication and IV infusion preparation and administration

  • Surgical preparation and assisting

  • Anesthesia assistance

  • Radiology and diagnostics

  • Lab sample collection and processing

  • Safe and effective patient handling and restraint

  • Medical recordkeeping

Qualifications

  • Experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant in an emergency and critical care setting required

  • Alabama Veterinary Technician license (LVT) strongly preferred

  • Able to proficiently perform veterinary technical skills including those listed above
