Job Description:

TD Asset Management (TDAM), a member of TD Bank Financial Group, is a leading North American investment manager offering progressive investment solutions to both institutional and individual investors. The Analyst, Market Intelligence & Analytics , is a key partner to the Institutional Distribution team, supporting the global growth and retention objectives of the firm through providing best-in-class research and analytics. The Analyst will be responsible for working with large datasets, deriving insights on a company, competitor, or product basis and compiling / summarizing research on various related subjects. This role will have exposure to, and interaction with, several key stakeholders including Relationship Managers, Client Portfolio Managers, Marketing and Sales Enablement, while offering unparalleled exposure within an industry-leading global investment management firm. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual with experience and interest in the investment management industry, strong analytical and communication skills, and a desire to make a positive impact in our growing team.

Accountabilities :

Research & Sales Support

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis on institutional entities (pension plans, insurance companies, endowments and foundations) to understand plan objectives, investment strategies, and asset allocation.

  • Produce competitor intelligence reports to evaluate a competitor's market position and present insights.

  • Support sales objectives in a business-to-business setting by developing prospect lists utilizing quantitative and qualitative screening.

  • Prepare product research across asset classes; assembling and synthesizing product specific data such as total assets, key product characteristics, investment strategy / philosophies & investor interest / activity.

  • Conduct market research by theme or segment to size the market potential, identify trends and key participants.

  • Respond to requests from internal partners in an efficient and professional manner.

  • Contribute to the development of tools, automation, and processes to fulfill requests with a high degree of quality and accuracy.

Data Analytics

  • Utilize internal and external datasets alongside Excel to consolidate and clean data for analysis using formulas, functions, and pivot tables.

  • Conduct analysis and provide insight through various key performance indicators to support decision-making by senior leadership, including the development of Salesforce dashboards , highlighting business development and client servicing efforts.

  • Complete investment fund performance analysis / competitive positioning by developing a peer group of comparable investment strategies, determining the appropriate performance, efficiency, and risk metrics, assembling the necessary charts / data tables and deriving insights.

  • Create Salesforce reports to assess client and prospect characteristics and segmentation.

  • Prepare and present analysis findings using PowerPoint or other data visualization methods.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, marketing or related business fields; candidate should be familiar with public and private market asset classes including Equities, Fixed Income and Real Assets.

  • Enrolment in, or completion of, the Chartered Financial Analyst designation is an asset.

  • 3+ years' experience in an analytical role within the financial industry.

  • Experience with an Institutional Asset Management firm or an Investment Consultant firm is preferred.

  • Relevant co-op and internship experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge of capital markets and asset management business.

  • Knowledge of the pension industry is an asset.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Advanced Excel skills are strongly preferred.

  • Experience with Salesforce CRM and/or eVestment is an asset.

  • Experience in completing secondary research, market research or competitive intelligence reports.

  • Experience with data visualization.

  • Strong collaboration and relationship-management skills, including ability to manage relationships across a broad team, and with key internal stakeholders.

  • Comfortable collaborating with team members in multiple locations.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, employ critical thinking/problem solving skills and deal with ambiguity when required.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be results-oriented, have exceptional time management/organizational skills and strong attention to detail.

  • A desire to continuously learn and improve, particularly related to the asset management industry and investment knowledge.

  • Basic to intermediate statistics knowledge considered an asset.

  • Experience with python is an asset but is not a current job requirement.

Hybrid = 3 days a week in office with expectation of 4 days in March 2025
