*Where You Will Work *

Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description

This entry-level position supports operations and/or maintenance areas in an industrial setting. Employees work in environments where the primary objective is safe production. There are many work activities taking place at one time, and work tasks may change many times during a work shift.

  • Area housekeeping to include tasks such as shoveling, using a fire hose, and digging

  • Operation of processing/mobile equipment

  • Material lifting/handling/loading

  • Operation of hand/power tools

  • Equipment/facility inspection and maintenance

  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Preferred

  • High School diploma or GED

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms

  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day

  • May be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation

  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently  *$22.00 - $22.50/hour.  *

  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam. 

  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing. 

  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
