Description West Virginia University College of Law invites applications for a full-time, nine-month faculty position to join our Legal Writing Program in the 2025-2026 academic year. Legal writing faculty are non-tenure-track voting members of the faculty and are appointed at the rank of Teaching Associate Professor and are eligible for promotion. Faculty in the legal writing program typically teach two sections of the coordinated and required first-year Legal Analysis, Reasoning, and Writing (LARW) course, which is three credits in the fall and two credits in the spring. The new faculty member will be supported by and work collaboratively with other experienced faculty teaching in the program. Candidates may have the opportunity to teach additional courses, including but not limited to appellate advocacy, judicial writing, or a judicial externship course. The College has been recognized among the nation's top law schools for public interest programs and practical training. The College is located in Morgantown, ranked one of the top small cities in the country and easily accessible to Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Columbus, Baltimore, and Washington, DC.

Qualifications Candidates should have an excellent academic record and must hold a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school. Experience in litigation, appellate litigation, and as a judicial law clerk is strongly preferred. While some law school teaching experience is also strongly preferred, entry-level candidates will be considered. Candidates should have a passion for teaching and a strong commitment to service in the law school and community. While scholarship is not required, it is encouraged and supported. Please include the following with your application: a cover letter, a C.V., and a list of at least three references. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the positions are filled.
