Atlantic Health System Quality Reviewer, Laboratory, ACL Full Time in Morristown, New Jersey

The Laboratory Quality Improvement Coordinator/Reviewer assists and supports the Quality Manager in the design, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of the Quality Improvement initiatives of the Department.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists design and implementation of \ Quality Improvement Monitors under the supervision of the Quality Manager and participates in performance improvement activities

  • Prepares monthly reports detailing the results of all Quality Improvement initiatives as directed by Quality Manager

  • Performs quality audits and documentation. Collaborates with peers and managers to facilitate and monitor the timely completion of corrective actions for findings

  • Analyzes QI related data including creation of data collection tools, data aggregation and maintains an inventory of quality improvement activities

  • Monitors and displays statistical data for quality reports and evaluations

  • Helps monitor the compliance of Quality Control documentation, corrective action, and appropriate supervisory signatures as per NJDOH and CAP recommendations and requirements

  • Supports Quality Manager with coordination of laboratory’s proficiency program and monitors result submission, result review and corrective action for PT failures

  • Assists the Quality Manager in maintaining a personnel competency program, which includes technologists and supervisory personnel

  • Aids in the preparation and coordination of Quality Management Meetings including data collection, agenda, minutes and presentations

  • Follows safety requirements and monitors safety compliance and processes.

  • Conducts safety audits and follows up on corrective action for all deficiencies

  • Maintains safety documentation files

  • Assesses safety compliance and makes suggestions on ways to improve it

  • Assists in the enforcement of policies within the Laboratory

  • Suggests modifications to protocols and documents to improve laboratory workflow and processes

  • Quality Manager in writing procedures and/or preparing manuals as required including validation/verification of tests. Assists in the planning of verification/validation study proposals prior to implementing new methods and technologies, initiating studies, troubleshooting during the process, and review of experiments prior to submission where applicable.

  • Participates in preparation and coordination of regulatory site visits by NJDOH, CAP and Joint Commission

  • Supports other supervisory and managerial staff with regulatory agency preparedness

    Travel to AHS laboratory sites is required.

    Minimum Education Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological, Chemical or Life Science required

  • Certified as MLS (ASCP) or equivalent required

    Minimum Experience Required:

  • Minimum of two years technical experience in Anatomic Pathology/Cytology/IHC in addition to the required educational background and licensure requirements. Full knowledge and familiarity with NJ DOH Standards and CAP checklists

  • Ability to work independently and complete projects in a timely manner

  • Ability to write clear and concise procedures and policies

  • Skillful knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, Laboratory Information Systems and Hospital Health Care Management Systems

  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to investigate, analyze information/data and draw conclusions

  • Requires a high level of organizational and time management skills

  • Responsible for collecting specimens such as blood, tissue and urine and process the samples for the lab.
