Job Description:

Responsible for managing all aspects of driver training related to safety and compliance programs at the operating company (OpCo) level.

Training responsibilities include but are not limited to new hire orientation, OpCo regulations, DOT compliance, post incident retraining and development of corresponding training materials.

Coordinates the tracking and documentation of all relevant training and compliance information on drivers.

Coaches and counsels drivers to improve performance.

Participates in and supports recruiting and retention activities.

Functions as a team member within the department and organization as required, and performs any duty assigned to support business needs.

Responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering fleet safety, occupational health and related safety/compliance training programs to ensure applicable legal compliance.

Creates and maintains a safe and secure working environment.

Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely through training and by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seatbelt and weight belt use, as well as safe lifting and product-handling practices.

Monitors safety programs and implement changes necessary to ensure the health and safety of our associates.

Maintains 100% Pure Safety completion rate for the entire Transportation Department.

Ensures drivers are in compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations.

Assists with the counseling and documentation of all drivers in accordance with company policy for all driver related systems including DriveCam, Driver Alerts, Driver Logs, etc.

Follow truck routes to monitor driver deliveries to verify driver safety training compliance and performance, and also meets with customers regarding client satisfaction in conjunction with the OpCo Service Excellence Program.

Responsible for driver retention activities in coordination with human resources to include positive coaching, counseling, and follow-up with on-site and remote drivers.

Also plan, organize and lead driver retention activities such as the OpCo Rodeo, "PFG Supports" activities with customers, etc.

Routinely performs requires preferred work method (PWM) observations via driver ride-withs and retraining whenever necessary.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Required Education:

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Required Experience:

4 - 6 years of a Combination of management and transportation safety training oversight experience, and/or DOT safety & compliance work experience; Intermediate computer skills to include MS Office Suite and Outlook.

Preferred Education:

Bachelors Degree in Risk management, safety, operations management, logistics, business management or related field.

Preferred Experience:

6 - 10 years of a Combination of transportation supervision and/or DOT safety/compliance work experience; Advanced computer skills including experience with PeopleNet, DriveCam, Vigillo/CSA systems; Foodservice distribution industry experience.
