South Central Area Transit Coordinator/Scheduler in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee

Coordinator/Scheduler Job Description Position: Coordinator/Scheduler Direct Supervisor: County Director Primary Responsibilities: Assure that each passenger is picked up as close as possible to the promised pick-up time while trying to minimize the number of miles and hours each driver travels. Job Qualifications:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.

Must be able to read and write at a high school level to ensure ability to understand written instructions, read maps, etc.

Must have good telephone and communication skills.

Must have adequate computer skills, including typing skills, to perform necessary record-keeping tasks in a reasonable time.

Must be familiar with the local area.

Must be courteous, dependable, and able to relate to individuals of all backgrounds, ages, and persons with disabilities.

Must be able to respond to emergencies about both the vehicles and the passengers.

Must be able to multi-task Job Qualifications for Coordinator/Scheduler (continued):

Must meet qualifications and physical requirements as mentioned in the Driver Job Description if this position is to be utilized as a backup driver.

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time.

Position requires a negative employment drug testing before hiring, as well as random, reasonable, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing as required by the current approved drug and alcohol testing policy thereafter.

Position requires a clear background check before hiring

Position requires regular and dependable attendance. Description of Coordinator/Scheduler Duties:

Take reservation requests and determine if they are acceptable or not.

Schedule trips and review schedule to be sure they can be accomplished prior to implementation.

Schedule and assign changes as they occur.

Promptly respond to all emergencies and other problems, reporting any unsolved problems to the Director.

Resolve complaints/grievances from passengers, reporting any unsolved problems to the Director.

Receive completed trip sheets daily from drivers and review for completeness and accuracy.

Receive fares from drivers daily and review for accuracy.

This position is responsible for data entry, verifying insurance and/or medical claims and appeals, processing direct billing and accounts receivables, maintaining appropriate accounts receivable reports and management reports, communicating with vendor locations, and serving as liaison to medical care organizations.

Complete monthly transportation report.

Maintain records of and schedule service/repairs on vehicles.

Reassure drivers by working in a confident, efficient manner.

Monitor and update drivers locations.

Handle all two-way radio communications.

Ensure drivers are fulfilling their duties and assist in training new drivers.

Assist in expanding current routes and establishing new routes.

Attend and successfully complete training events.

Other related duties as assigned.
