LinkedIn is looking for a Distinguished Engineer with expertise in platforms and infrastructure to provide thought leadership for Data Infra organization. Data Infra builds scalable, highly available, secure, easy to use and cost-efficient infrastructure that powers LinkedIn’s applications and infra systems. It covers a portfolio of products and services that allow applications to store, access/query, process and manage data. Our roadmap is bursting with great ideas and we are looking forward to having this distinguished Engineer help in solving intriguing technical challenges and building robust infrastructure that will help engineers to build cutting-edge experiences at scale.

We are in search of a Distinguished Engineer specializing in Core Infrastructure to join LinkedIn's Core Infrastructure organization. In this role, you will play a crucial part in architecting and developing AI-first infrastructure solutions that power our platform. While expertise in Kubernetes is valued, this position encompasses a broader focus on Core Infrastructure, ensuring scalability, reliability, and efficiency across LinkedIn's operations.

Responsibilities:

• Deepen understanding of LinkedIn's Core Infrastructure landscape and contribute valuable domain expertise.

• Lead discussions across teams and functions to align on product and technology strategies, with an emphasis on optimizing Core Infrastructure.

• Define technical strategies that translate business requirements into robust architecture and technology plans.

• Architect and construct highly scalable systems and applications to support organizational objectives.

• Establish best practices and quality standards for Core Infrastructure systems.

• Cultivate a culture of collaboration, diversity, and innovation, particularly in initiatives related to Core Infrastructure.

• Contribute as a thought leader in Core Infrastructure, with the opportunity to address both bottom and top stack challenges.

• Advise LinkedIn executives on technology strategies and best practices related to Core Infrastructure.

• Identify opportunities and design technical solutions leveraging Core Infrastructure to drive business impact.

• Mentor senior engineering talent in best practices and lead by example in craftsmanship and innovation.

Basic Qualifications:

• Masters or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent research experience.

• 10+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 10+ years' experience in building robust platforms, with at least 5 years in a technical or scientific leadership position.

• Experience in designing and implementing scalable infrastructure solutions.

• Experience leading large-scale development projects from concept to production.

• Experience of technical leadership skills, guiding and mentoring top engineering talent.

• Experience in leading cross-company initiatives and contribute to the evolution of Infrastructure.

The pay range for this role is $229,000 to $375,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
