Job Summary

The Sr. Events & Catering Operations Manager for Bon Appétit Management Company is responsible for the

successful execution of all events and catering functions and oversees the Events & Catering setup team, event

logistics, and catering operations for all events on-site. This position will also collaborate with the Directors of

Events & Catering, Sr. Events & Catering Managers/Events & Catering Managers to ensure exceptional service

delivery and client satisfaction, including all events and catering initiatives. This position leads the event and BEO

communications across operational and culinary teams, scheduling and training of operational staff, operational

schedule development to ensure proper delivery, set up, and clean up for all daily events. This position will manage

the Events & Catering inventory for tables, chairs, catering small wares, equipment, beer/wine inventory, any other

catering and events equipment, and management of Events & Catering storage areas and facilities. The position will

also oversee the Catering fleet of delivery trucks (where applicable).

POSITION OBJECTIVES:

In the performance of their respective tasks and duties all employees are expected to conform to the following:

  • Collaborates extensively throughout the client organization with individuals in pivotal roles to ensure the

success of the department.

  • Facilitates seamless coordination of activities with other internal departments to achieve operational

excellence.

  • Actively participates in and often leads team meetings, providing valuable insights and strategic direction

for catering department initiatives.

  • Interfaces directly with vendors fostering strong relationships and ensuring the delivery of exceptional

service and experience.

  • Perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.

  • Work effectively as a team contributor on all assignments.

  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts

with other employees and organizations.

Major Duties Functions and Tasks

Daily Operations

  • Work collaboratively with all Events & Catering team members across the operation.

  • Represents company in a courteous, efficient, and friendly manner is all customer and employee

interactions.

  • Manage hourly personnel appropriately based upon business needs and events, including sourcing temp

help if/when needed.

  • Hires, trains, and schedules catering staff in-service techniques, menu presentation, policies, and

procedures.

  • Ensures Successful operations of catering functions including labor control, purchasing, preparations,

transportation, set-up, and cleanup of all events.

  • Ensures that all necessary food items have identifiers, PIDs or menus, displayed in a clean and consistent

manner.

  • Leads, manages, and inspires a diverse team with the goal of providing top-notch service to the clients.

  • Delivers consistent quality in logistics planning and delivery of VIP and complex events.

  • Interact with customers and resolves customer complaints in a friendly and service-oriented manner.

  • Demonstrates a complete understanding of menu items and explains same to customers accurately.

  • Consistently exhibits the ability to keep up with events and catering delivery schedules and does so calmly,

accurately, and efficiently.

  • Manages ordering and delivery of outsourced items when needed.

  • Manages inventory levels relating to small wares, tables, chairs, event equipment and vehicle fleet, where

applicable.

  • Manages inventory relevant to catering beer/wine stock, and secured storage items.

  • Manages monthly preventative maintenance report on Events & Catering equipment and event areas.

  • Collaborate with Chefs in planning and execution of assigned Catering events/requests as needed.

  • Accommodate last minute client orders and add-ons efficiently and courteously.

  • Manages the daily operations of the department.

  • Consistent and efficient correspondence, coordination and execution of events while maintaining a

professional, calm, and composed demeanor.

Supervision and Staff Development

  • Manages Events & Catering setup personnel appropriately based upon business needs and events. This

includes the securing and leadership of temporary staff when needed.

  • Oversee event staff for room set-ups, room turns, based on the event schedule.

  • Oversee event staff setups for food, beverage, and service items according to pre-established Great

Expectations Catering standards.

  • Monitors all events and ensures proper food delivery and pick up times are met.

  • Ensures events and catering staff is in proper uniform and adhering to unit specific appearance standards.

  • Responsible for all catering team members and functions including the smooth execution of the Catering

Standard of Operation Procedures.

  • Conducts trainings with Events and Catering staff on safety, food handling and catering transportation.

  • Works collaboratively with entire Events & Catering team across the site.

  • Works collaboratively between Culinary and Events & Catering teams to ensure smooth operations of staff

and service.

  • Maintain hourly staff payroll in unit timekeeping.

  • Assists with interviews, hiring, and training staff for Events & Catering operations positions.

  • Develops team members into high preforming individuals by providing constructive feedback and the

opportunity to engage in a personal development plan to foster inter-site growth.

  • Assists with ensuring that all Hiring and Training standards are met and documented for employees,

including but not limited to New Hire Packet, Employee Handbook Sign off Sheet, Fact Training Completion,

and Safety Training.

  • Utilize all Personal Protective Equipment’s per Bon Appétit guidelines.

  • Wear a cut resistance glove whenever using a sharp or potentially sharp tool or instrument.
