This role is part of the Developer Productivity and Happiness (DPH) organization where you will get an opportunity to influence, transform, and create an amazing experience for developers at LinkedIn. You will lead and contribute to strategic investments to make the software development lifecycle faster and improve the lives of developers. This spans multiple areas of a developer lifecycle including but not limited to simplifying and speeding up app development, providing consistent design/experience through common UI frameworks, providing validation infrastructure so product teams can ship with confidence, and leveraging new technologies that have potential to significantly enhance the critical path of the software development lifecycle. You will have the opportunity to engage with the industry-wide developer community and contribute to open-source software as well.

As a Sr. Staff Software Engineer on the Developer Productivity & Happiness Engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction and development of UI and UI infrastructure for LinkedIn engineers, in addition to shaping the strategy and vision of our organization as LinkedIn’s business and technology landscapes evolve and shift. You will work closely with engineers and partners from all parts of the company, from product to infrastructure and more.

Responsibilities:

•Own the front-end development for one or more of our products and collaborate with visual/interaction designers, other engineers, and product managers to launch new products, iterate on existing features, and build a world-class user experience.

•Implement cutting-edge technologies and will be writing state-of-the-art code to keep LinkedIn at the cutting edge of current technology.

•Design products/services/tools and code that can be used by others while upholding operational impact of all decisions. Your specific expertise will be required to make the site delightful, secure, performant and accessible to all our members.

•Provide technical leadership, driving and performing best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide critical programs. Identify, leverage, and successfully evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity.

•Collaborate with other products and teams to launch new products, influence their roadmaps, and iterate on existing solutions to build a world-class developer experience.

•Deliver impact by driving innovation while building and shipping software at scale.

•Function as the tech-lead for multiple key initiatives, identify problems and opportunities and lead teams to architect, design, implement and operationalize systems.

Basic Qualifications:

•BS (or higher, e.g., MS, or PhD) in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent technical experience

•5+ years experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions.

•5+ years programming experience in object-oriented programming languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, or Ruby

•2+ years of experience as an architect, or technical leadership position

Preferred Qualifications:

•BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience

•Knowledge of and a passion for current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, accessibility, security and usability

•Comprehensive knowledge of Node.js, the web platform, and UI architecture

•Experience working on large-scale JavaScript codebases with contributors that span teams, offices and time zones

•Prior experience building public API's with Java

•Experience building large-scale consumer facing products

•Ability to make smart tradeoffs that balance short-term and long-term business needs

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices.

The pay range for this role is $171,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
