Amazon Transportation Services (ATS) is looking for a Capacity Planning Manager within the North American Sort Center (NASC) Long Term Planning team. Our team owns the Planning process and the analytics for both US and Canada sort center networks. The Amazon managed transportation network continues to grow in scale and complexity. As we onboard multiple new businesses through the middle mile transportation network - scalable solutions for future business needs, influencing change in our current processes and solutions to increase automation, and adaptation to complexity and ambiguity are critical to success.

We are looking for a strong leader to own our long term planning cycles and to help us design our network to support the Amazon speed and other transportation initiatives. This role will require you to work cross functionally and understand the long term requirements of the all programs that leverage the sort centers. This is a high impact and visibility role, as it requires recommending the future build plans and the capital investment needed for sort centers. As a part of the planning process, you will be interacting with senior-level audiences (including directors and VPs) from both internal and external teams mainly to get their alignment to the recommendation. The role will offer unique opportunity to develop the best-in-class middle mile network for the North American Sort center network to deliver high quality customer experience while minimizing cost and improving fulfillment speed. Besides the planning side, the role offers you to work on the Operations Research based planning tools and partner with research scientists to define new tools or improve existing.

Key job responsibilities

Deep diving the gaps within planning tools/products and partnering with Operations Research Scientists team to address them.

Lead strategic initiatives related to network capacity within Amazon's various business units.

Concentrate on optimizing and managing the flow of goods, information, or services within the supply chain network.

Balance supply and demand, assess and improve the efficiency of distribution networks, warehouses, or logistics operations.

Analyze and synthesize data to identify opportunities for enhancing customer experiences and operational efficiency in network capacity.

Define metrics, develop program management mechanisms, and invent/simplify processes to drive decision-making in complex network capacity situations.

Collaborate with stakeholders across different functions, influencing and facilitating agreements to achieve shared network capacity goals.

Manage cross-functional network capacity initiatives, ensuring continuous improvement and adherence to lean philosophy at scale.

Own a portfolio of cross-functional programs related to network capacity, driving performance improvement and efficiency in project delivery.

Identify and deliver operational improvement opportunities in network capacity, focusing on inventory management, logistics strategy, and transportation optimization.

Monitor and optimize key network capacity metrics to ensure the smooth flow of goods or services through the supply chain network.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in operations, supply chain, business, engineering, finance, or related fields.

  • 5+ years of program or project management experience, with a focus on network capacity.

  • Experience using data and metrics to drive improvements in network capacity processes.

  • Familiarity with tools like Excel and SQL.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA in relevant fields.

  • Specific experience in driving process improvements in network capacity.

  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with complex systems.

  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with large, complex datasets.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $181,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
