Summary About the Position: You will serve as an Engineering Technician (Electrical) with the responsibility to assist the Design Branch, Electrical Design Section engineering staff of the Nashville Engineering & Construction Division. This position is located in Nashville, Tennessee. Responsibilities Independently review Contract Technical Submittals for accuracy and conformance with contract requirements. Assemble individual sketches, material schedules, and design data from a variety of sources to produce final drawings, reports, and schedules. Operate the District's Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) equipment, from information in the form of engineering notes, sketches, computations and reference materials. Perform engineering computations and compiles results for engineers and designers. Apply 3-D modeling software to create models. To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting the engineering team in using computer drafting software to create and develop detailed drawings from the models for electrical elements. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. To qualify at the GS-10 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting the engineering team in utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other Computer Aided Engineering tools to develop detailed models and develop detailed drawings involving electrical elements for local flood protection, navigation, flood control, and recreation projects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-09. To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have: Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-10 grade level in the Federal service which includes assisting the engineering team in utilizing Computer Aided Design (CAD) and other Computer Aided Engineering tools to develop detailed models and develop detailed drawings involving electrical elements for local flood protection, navigation, flood control, and recreation projects; uses office automation software to prepare supporting documents relating to technical studies or specification and design submissions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-10. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Design Modeling and Simulation Technical Competence GS-11: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-10). GS-10: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09). GS-09: Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year probationary period may be required. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a(n) 18 Career Field position. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest. Relocation/Recruitment/Advance-in-Hire incentive may be authorized for a highly qualified candidate and an agency determination that payment is in the Government Interest. If incentives are authorized a service agreement is required.
